Apply Now For National Development Scholarships 2023

Barbadian citizens between ages 18 and 40, who have been accepted to an internationally accredited university at the undergraduate or postgraduate level, are invited to apply for the 2023 National Development Scholarships.

Interested persons are reminded that programmes offered at the campuses of The University of the West Indies will not be considered. The scholarships will be awarded in the following areas:

  • Civil Aviation, Aeronautics & Air Transport
  • Ocean, Marine & Maritime Science
  • Entomology
  • Gerontology
  • Audiology & Speech Therapy
  • Agriculture

The National Development Scholarship covers one direct economy class ticket to the country of study at the commencement of the course, and one return ticket to Barbados on completion of the programme.

Additionally, it includes full tuition fees, payable directly to the university; a one-time book allowance of $1,000; and a one-time clothing allowance of $736, applicable for students pursuing studies in cold countries.

There will also be a living allowance of:

  • $6,300 per annum for students pursuing studies in the USA.
  • $5,880 per annum for students pursuing studies in Canada.
  • $7,560 per annum for students pursuing studies in the United Kingdom.

Successful applicants will be required to enter a bond with sureties to return and work in Barbados on completion of the course, on the basis of one year for each year of the award.
