B’DOS ROYALS CRUISE TO PLAYOFFS WITH VICTORY OVER AMAZON WARRIORS

A 29-run victory over the Guyana Amazon Warriors secured the Barbados Royals playoffs spot in their rain affected match in the 2022 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL). 

Losing the toss and being sent into bat the Royals needed a late order surge from Jason Holder and Mujeeb Ur Rahman to get up to 107/6 as the rain shortened their innings to 16 overs.

 The Royals to 62/5 when the rain delay came, before Holder and Mujeeb Ur Rahman compiled a 39-run partnership off 16 balls to give the Royals a total to defend.

Holder finished on an unbeaten 40 runs from 33 balls which included one boundary and three maximums. 

The DLS set the target of 111 runs for victory and the Amazon Warriors got stuck as they found themselves stumbling on 12/1 after four overs.

With no one able to score more than 15 runs the Amazon Warriors were almost bowled out in their 16 overs as they finished on 81/9  to fall 29 runs shy of the target. 

The Barbados Royals move on with 14 points, thanks to 7 wins and one loss from their 8 matches.
