BHTA APPOINTS NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND CHAIRMAN ELECT JAVON GRIFFITH

THE Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) has appointed a new Board of Directors including Chairman Elect, Javon Griffith, who will take over the role of Chairman in June 2024, when present Chairman Renée Coppin’s two-year term comes to an end.

The other members of the Board include Stephen Austin, Patricia Affonso-Dass, Jo-Ann Roett, Karen Capaldi, Leroy Browne, Mark Kent, Tania Wallace, Kavita Sandiford, Raymond Gill, Dr. Jens Thraenhart, Davina Layne and BHTA Chief Executive Officer Ryan Forde.

Griffith, who has over 18 years of experience in Tourism and Hospitality Management in Barbados, has been an active member of the BHTA since 2013 serving as Second Vice-Chairman on the Board since 2020.

The General Manager at the Atlantis Historic Inn from 2014, also oversees the Sales and Marketing Operations for both Atlantis and sister property Little Good Harbour. On his appointment he states, “I am looking forward to leading the BHTA’s Board of Directors in 2024 as one of the youngest Chairpersons in the Association’s esteemed 71 year history.

“This role will go hand in hand with my passion for the further development of Barbados’ tourism industry through the enhancement of the destination’s product, international appeal, airlift capacity as well as the increased benefits for all workers in the tourism industry.”

Griffith holds a Master’s Degree in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University (Bedfordshire, UK), a Bachelor’s Degree with honours from the University of the West Indies in Hospitality & Tourism Management and Associate Degrees in Tourism and Travel and French and Italian for Business and Tourism from the Barbados Community College.
