Breakfast Programme Coming To Primary Schools
Free breakfast will be given to students in primary schools across Barbados, starting from September 2026.
Minister of Education Transformation, Chad Blackman, made this announcement on Wednesday, on World Obesity Day, while speaking at the Childhood Obesity Prevention Youth Health Summit, held in collaboration with the Barbados School Nutrition Policy, at the Ballroom, Sandals Royal Barbados, Maxwell, Christ Church.
Mr. Blackman said: “We’ve taken a very firm decision, that we will ensure that even for breakfast, at primary schools all across the country, from September this year, all of our children will have breakfast in schools before they start their day.”
The Minister also urged the youth to take the lead in health and education initiatives – leveraging technology and social media to promote healthy lifestyles – in the transformation of the education system. (PR/GIS)
