Chef Sam is Sandals Barbados’ newest Executive Sous Chef
Sandals Barbados Resorts is proud to announce the promotion of local chef Symantha Moaze to the role of Executive Sous Chef.
Chef Sam as she is affectionately known, has been a member of the Sandals team for 11 years; beginning her career as an assistant butcher and after five promotions was able to elevate to her new position within the company.
“Throughout my career I have gained experience, grown in confidence and remained committed to consistently delivering high quality work. For each promotion that came along the way, I was humbled and appreciative as my hard work paid off,” said Moaze.
The 34-year-old mother of one, started her educational journey at Grazettes Primary School and continued at Alexandra Secondary School, where she built the foundation that today supports her professional path.
“One of the things I treasure most about Sandals is the avenue for growth and development that it offers, especially to the younger members of the team. The organization provides a setting where individuals can strive to be great and be assured of leaders who believe in them,” said Moaze.
Executive Chef of the resort Satheesh Selvam, joined in congratulating Symantha’s achievement saying it was well deserved.
“Chef Sam’s journey is a masterclass in upward mobility and performance-driven growth. Through her grit, determination and an unshakeable commitment to mastery, she steadily rose through the ranks. Her career trajectory is a testament to what happens when passion meets purpose.”

Outside of work Chef Sam dedicates most of her time to her daughter Janae whose presence brings balance to her life.
“I also manage a small farm and caring for my animals is something I truly enjoy, as it keeps me connected, grounded and motivated. I have a special love for the elderly and disabled persons and I love to drive big trucks,” she added.
Chef Sam is also the resort’s 2024 Manager of the Year and avid volunteer of the Sandals Foundation. (PR)
