Excitement growing at the sixth Sweet Lime

The sweet sounds of music filled the air on Bay Street last night as the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) staged the 6th ‘Sweet Lime’ show at the Bay Street Esplanade.
The ‘we outside, again’ vibes continue to grow as Barbadians are returning in large numbers to Crop Over events since the lockdown of the pandemic. As the sun retreated for another day Dee Jays; Zen, Skribzz, Link, Scott, and Mali Fresh warmed the crowd for showtime. The Tamarind Bar and Quinzel’s Kitchen ensured that not only music was served as they provided a menu of drinks and food to satisfy the people’s desires.
The NCF recently launched a mega show called Four.0 which will be staged Sunday, August 6th, 2023. Five top local artists will each lead a team of performers in creative combat to see who the best is. Peter Ram is a team leader, he and his Hyperdrive Team were a major part of Sweet Lime #6. Peter ‘Miss Wiggins’ son’ Ram introduced Torian, Idea the Artist, Rameses Brown, Greatful Co, and Shaquille featuring Shancee. Each performer delivered well to set the stage for the more seasoned headliners of the night.

With the Bay Street Sweet Lime crowd charged up Leadpipe and Saddis ‘pushed back’ on the crowd’s energy and produced one of their better performances for the season, which all augur well as the season is only now warming up.

Edwin ‘The General’ Yearwood commanded the Sweet Lime army from his first note, his performance was full of energy which had the ‘yardie crowd’ in party mode. A pleasant surprise was an appearance by Khiomal, not seen a lot in recent times it was clear to see that Khiomal was in as good form as before or even better. He connected with the crowd and they with him. Sweet Lime # 6 was sweet indeed. Article by Christopher Williams
