FR. KIRT PARISH PRIEST OUR LADY OF SORROWS
Roman Catholic Bishop of Bridgetown, The Most Rev. Neil Scantlebury has appointed Fr. Kirt Prospere as the parish priest for Our of the Sorrows Church. Fr. Kirt’s appointment took effect on Sunday 25th September 2022 at a special Mass at the Ashton Hall St. Peter church where the congregation welcomed their new parish priest along with Main Celebrant Bishop Neil.
Ordained at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral on June 1st 2019, Fr. Kirt is one of three young men who joined the priesthood and the Diocese of Bridgetown within the past three years others are Fr. Omaris Valmond and Fr. Moses Gakandi. This appointment is seen as a vote of confidence that Fr. Kirt can re-energized and grow the congregation of the church. The Covid-19 Pandemic had depleted the number of persons in the pews across the entire diocese and in this post pandemic period attendance at church remains low.
Bishop Neil encouraged the Catholic community of Our Lady of Sorrows to help Fr. Kirt to settle in to his new role and to support him as he set about building the church. (pics by C. Williams)
