“Guyana Unites: Government and Opposition Collaborate Amid Escalating Tensions with Venezuela”

The Government and the Opposition of Guyana, in discussions held on Tuesday, addressed the growing tensions and threats from Venezuela towards this country. During the meeting, they decried Caracas’ planned December 3rd referendum as a violation of treaties, asserting their complete unity on Guyana’s sovereignty and their unwavering commitment to safeguard it.

In a joint statement released after the meeting, they censured the recent actions taken by the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in its pursuit of a baseless claim to the Essequibo territory of Guyana.

Both President Ali and Opposition Leader Mr. Norton concurred that Guyana’s sovereignty is of utmost importance and a matter on which the Guyanese people are wholeheartedly united. They further emphasized their condemnation of Venezuela’s blatant disregard for the rule of law and affirmed their commitment to resisting Venezuela’s persistent attempts to undermine Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
