Hayden Paddon wins King of the Hill

Hayden Paddon is the 2023 First Citizens King of the Hill which was held on Sunday in St. Philip and St. John. 

New Zealand’s Paddon turned in the fastest time of the day of  2:09.53. on the third of the planned fourth runs. 

However the fourth run was cancelled with time running out after some delays during the day with one an accident which had the stage held up for some time. 

Barbados Dane Skeete who has one the King of the Hill title once before was second in 2:11.38.The top three was completed by Jamaica’s Jeffrey Panton  who has also won the King of the Hill title before.With a large crowd gather along the 4.2 km course to see who would emerge victorious and give everyone a glimpse into what to expect the next weekend at Sol Rally Barbados. The fastest two wheel drive on Sunday was claimed by Roger Mayers in his Toyota WR Starlet, while his brother Barry Mayers was second in this class as each of them finished inside the overall top 10. There were 80 competitors on Sunday with the fastest time out of four planned runs being used to determine the winner. With that victory, Paddon claims the coveted number 1 for the Sol Rally Barbados as he looks to deny the field and claim the victory over the grueling weekend to come. 

Walking away with what appears to be no serious injuries after a terrifying accident on Sunday were Jermain Pope and Aaron Kirton.

Everyone moves into high gear to prepare for the the 20 special stages of Sol Rally Barbados which kicks off with a super special on Friday night at Bushy Park.
