JAMAICA TALLAWAHS WIN 2022 HERO CPL TITLE

A second wicket 86-run partnership between Brandon King and Shamarh Brooks piloted the Jamaica Tallawahs to the 2022 Hero Caribbean Premier league (CPL) title on Friday at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. 

King and Brooks came together in the first over with only one run on the board. The pair put on 86 runs off 58 balls that rebuilt the Tallawahs innings to lead the side to their third CPL title.

Brooks was dismissed by Jason Holder for 47 runs off 33 balls while King batted from start to finish scoring 83 runs off 50 balls to hand the Tallawahs victory as they reached the target of 162  run in the 17th over with the loss of only two wickets.

Barbados Royals had won the toss and chose to bat, with Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Mayers getting them off to a blistering start, combining to score 63 runs off 35 balls for the first wicket in the powerplay.

Mayers being bowled by Fabien Allen for 29 runs off 19 balls, while Cornwall also went to Allen for 36 runs off 21 balls. 

Azam Khan got the scored 51 runs off 40 deliveries though the scoring rate slowed for the Royals in the middle phase. 

The Royals managed to reach 161/7 after 20 overs which proved to be too little.
