Jonathan Jones

Jonathan Jones made it to the final of the men’s 400m IAAF World Championships final and finished a creditable 8th in Oregon on Friday.

Jones who did not make any excuses for his performance clocked 46.13 secs and has a personal best and National Record of 44.43 seconds was almost two seconds off this time in the end running out of lane 2.

He never looked to be in the front with the leaders as his personal best would have given him a silver medal as the winner Michael Norman won in 44.29 secs, while second place Kirani James clocked 44.48 secs and Matthew Hudson-Smith was third in 44.66 secs.

Jones who has been competing on the Collegiate circuit in the 800m, 400m, and the 4x400m relay improved on his performance from the Tokyo Olympics where he reached the semi-finals and now he reached the final at a Global event.

Jones has also competed at the Olympics, Pan Games, IAAF World Under-20 Championships and Pan Am Under-20 championships.

He holds the National record in the 400m which is 44.43 secs and the 800m which is 1:45.83 both of which were set in 2022.
