INT'L DAY MESSAGE
MESSAGE FROM BARJAM ON INTERNATIONAL WOMENS’S DAY
On this International Women’s Day, The Barbados Association of Journalists and Media Workers (BARJAM) stands in solidarity with women around the world, recognizing their invaluable contributions across all sectors of society, including the media and journalism.
Today, we celebrate the achievements of women who have broken barriers, challenged norms, and shaped the media landscape in powerful and inspiring ways. From investigative journalists to storytellers, editors, broadcasters, and content creators, women in our profession continue to elevate narratives, amplify voices, and inform the public with integrity and courage.
While we acknowledge the strides that have been made, we also recognize the work that still lies ahead. Gender equity in the media is not yet a reality, and women in journalism face unique challenges—ranging from underrepresentation in leadership roles to the constant struggle against gender-based violence and discrimination. BARJAM remains committed to advocating for a more inclusive media industry where women are not only respected and heard but also celebrated for their expertise, creativity, and leadership.
On this special day, let us not only reflect on the progress we have made but also renew our commitment to empowering women, nurturing their talents, and ensuring that their stories are told with the respect they deserve. We honor all women, past and present, who continue to inspire, educate, and inform through their work in journalism and media.
To all the women who make a difference through their voices and stories—thank you.
Together, we continue to champion a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and lead in the media industry and beyond. (PR)
