More than half of global new energy vehicle sales since 2021 in China

According to the 2022 World New Energy Vehicle Congress that opened in Beijing, by the end of 2021, sales of new energy vehicles produced in China accounted for more than half of the more than 16 million global total of new energy vehicles sold that year. 

In the first half of 2022, global sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 4.22 million, up 66.3 percent year-on-year. China’s new energy vehicle sales reached 2.6 million, up 115 percent year-on-year.

Wan Gang, chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology and World New Energy Vehicle Congress, said at the congress that the global new energy vehicle industry has entered a new phase of rapid development, which requires China to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation to establish new and sustainable global automotive industry chains and supply chains.

The 2022 World New Energy Vehicle Congress is being held in Beijing and Hainan both online and offline and is themed, “Comprehensively Promoting Electrification and Jointly Achieving Carbon-neutral”.

More than 1,500 representatives from 14 countries and regions are attending the congress and discussing topics like the commercialization of hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles, global industry chain synergy and integration, and jointly developing an intelligent ecology.
