Office Of Public Counsel To Host Suppliers’ Forum On March 18
The Office of Public Counsel will host a Suppliers’ Forum on Wednesday, March 18, for those people supplying goods and services across the island’s business and commercial landscape.
It will be held in the Conference Room, Second Floor of the Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, commencing at 3:00 p.m.
Persons interested in attending the three-hour forum, which will include a Question-and-Answer segment, should call the Office of Public Counsel at 535-2756, 535-2758 or 535-2762 to reserve a space.
Public Counsel, Sandra Rawlins, emphasised the importance of the Forum, saying vital information will be shared with suppliers to help them better understand their responsibilities under the Consumer Guarantees Act CAP 326E.
“Suppliers will learn about the role and duties of the Office of Public Counsel regarding the investigation, settlement of consumer complaints filed with the department and the escalation of consumer complaints to the Consumer Claims Tribunal.
“Additionally, we will raise awareness of the Consumer Guarantees Act CAP 326E, and the obligations this piece of legislation places on suppliers concerning the delivery of goods and services to consumers within the local marketplace,” Ms. Rawlins explained.
The Public Counsel is hopeful that there will be greater dialogue with suppliers, with them seeking advice when contentious consumer issues arise involving the supply of goods or services. (PR/GIS)
