RUBIS donation boosts the Barbados Carifta swim team

The Barbados Swim Team attending the recently held Carifta Aquatics Championships received a boost from TeamRUBIS through a donation of $2,000, made to the Barbados Aquatic Sports Association (BASA) towards the cost of swimsuits.

The Championships were held from March 28 to April 7, 2024, at the Betty Kelly Kenning Swimming Complex in the Bahamas. The 23-member Barbados team captured 37 medals, including 15 gold, 15 silver, and seven bronze, tallying 486.50 points. This creditable performance earned them an impressive fifth place.

BASA President Robert O. Armstrong expressed appreciation to RUBIS, noting that the Carifta Championships was an important milestone in the development of local aquatic athletes.

“The Carifta Swimming Championships is the premier regional age group swimming event where our next generation of swimmers can showcase their ability and skill set alongside similar talents from neighbouring islands. Participation in the games is a significant milestone in the development of our swimmers, who hope to make their mark in the region before moving on to the next level of competitive swimming, whether collegiate or international.”

Andrea Gooding, Marketing Manager, RUBIS, said: “We were pleased to support these outstanding young swimmers at such a pivotal point in their development, and even more delighted to see how well they competed, earning almost 40 medals, including 15 gold. We congratulate them and celebrate their success, and we look forward to seeing them go from strength to strength in the future.” (PR)
