Paradise on de Hill

The sweet sounds of soca music and a dance frenzy with thousands of people returned to Farley Hill National Park after a two-year break due to the pandemic. A change of date which placed the event outside of the Crop Over season by one day -August 2-had no impact on the success of Soca on De Hill. Billed by the promoters, 4D Entertainment as ‘Return to Paradise’ this event did live up to its billing.

Every square foot of the grounds at Farley Hill was occupied by the army of party ‘animals’ who devoured the offerings of a star-studded cast. Some of Barbados’s top DJs got the crowd worked up before the live performances started. The list of local and regional artists included Mole, Hypasounds, Lil Rick, Patrice Roberts, Skinny Fabulous, Edwin Yearwood, Bruce Lee Almighty, Nadia Batson and Lyrical.  Each performer delivered a slice of paradise that was delightfully consumed by the posse on de Hill.

Return to Paradise was a fitting end to a wonderful 2022 Crop Over season. Soca on De Hill has established itself as a main event in the Crop Over calendar and by the looks of things; its growth and popularity it has maxed out the hill and may need to use the bigger space of a garden in 2023.
