Tourism Leaders Urged To Unite For A Stronger Regional Product

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is encouraging scores of delegates attending the 41stt Edition of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace to use it as an opportunity to “remove all of the sea that separates us and unite us as one Caribbean”.

Ms. Mottley issued the charge to the industry leaders last night during the official opening reception of Caribbean Hotel Tourism Association’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace at Ilaro Court.

She told attendees: “We must take responsibility as shapers of our destiny, firm craftsmen of our faith and do that which has eluded us for the last 70 years in Caribbean tourism.  If ever it was possible, now is the moment, and if ever there was the world for us to see it happen, it is now.”

The Prime Minister urged tourism stakeholders to stay focused on the mission of helping each other come up with strategies to make the tourism product in their respective countries stronger and better, given the challenges experienced over the last three years with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“And, I want to end by asking you to give yourselves the largest round of applause because the last three years have been “hell oh hell” for the tourism industry.”

After a full day of speeches and panel discussions, the delegates let their “hair down” as they enjoyed the best in Barbadian cuisine and local spirts and danced the night away to the best in local entertainment. (PR/GIS)
