WALK TO HELP LAUNCHED

In the upper room of St. Patricks Cathedral Bishop Neil Scantlebury, the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgetown, on Friday announced the inaugural charity walk,  Walk to Help, a journey to uplift, the first charity walk to be held by the Diocese.

During a brief news conference on Friday October 27th, Bishop  Scantlebury told  the media that the decision to host a 5k walk was based on the need to reach out to and assist children who are in need.  The church plays its role in the spiritual development and by extension should also play a part in the health and wellness of both the mind and body, he stated.

Present at the  briefing were sponsors Ros Jackson, Caribbean Catalyst, Greta Yearwood, CEO Heart and Stroke Foundation  and the Principal of St Patricks RC school. The sponsors expressed their excitement to be a part of the inaugural walk as it focuses on wellness and  will embrace the entire family.  The. Principal of St Patricks school stated that the school’s involvement was a teaching opportunity  showing its students the importance of embracing and being part of the community. They will rejoined by students of Wills Primary.

Walk to Help will begin at 3.30 pm on November 12th beginning and ending at the Botanical  Gardens. Participants can have their blood pressure and BMI checked preceding the event  compliments of the Heart and Stroke Foundation
