Warriors & Tigers Warriors are Champions


Wesley Hall Juniors (Warriors) and Williams Industries West Terrace (Tigers) are the King and Queens of the 2023 Chefette/Frosteez National Primary Schools’ Athletics Championships (NAPSCA).

When the dust had settled under the steaming hot sun at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex, the boys title had gone the way of Wesley Hall with 117 points, while Luther Thorne Memorial were second on 83,  and Bayley’s Primary with 77 points.


Standing on the podium to collect the Under-9 Division title Nathan Phillips. 

The defending champions in the girls West Terrace were made to fight for their title. Trailing Christ Church Girls at the midway point of the day, West Terrace managed to edge ahead before the start of the 200m. 

Each school had three teams represented in four of the Girls relays which meant the title battle was going down to the wire.

In the end West Terrace edged out Christ Church Girls by less than 10 points, 103 (West Terrace) to 94 (Christ Church Girls). 

Despite no records falling on the final day there was outstanding performances and toping all the divisions were Nathan Phillips of Vauxhall Primary and Kaiya Warner-Franklin of Trinity Academy. 

Phillips competed in the Under-9 boys won the 80 metres (11.52 seconds), 100m (14.41 seconds) and 150m (21.73) for a maximum of 30 points. 

Warner-Franklin who blazed her way to three gold medals competed in the Under-11 Girls and won the 100 metres (13.90 seconds), 200m (29.28 seconds) and 300m (47.64 seconds).
