LODGE WINS UNDER 15 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Milo Lodge won the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) Under-15 Championships after securing first innings lead against Harrison College in the drawn three –day match at Kensington Oval on Thursday.
On Tuesday (the first day of the match) Harrison College scored 194 runs after winning the toss and batting, captain Javion Batson made 92 from 109 balls with 11 fours and four sixes, and Franklian Durant contributed 35.
At one stage Harrison College were 169 for five wickets, but off-spinner Shawnico Sargeant snared three wickets in one over. and the boys from Crumpton Street lose their last five wickets for 25 runs.
Sargeant picked up four wickets for 38 runs, and his fellow off-spinner Liam Sealy took four wickets for 50 runs.
Lodge were 257 runs for nine wickets (a lead of 62 runs) at the close of play on Wednesday, after Shakobi Gittens made a stylish 52 runs, the left-handed faced 56 balls, and struck nine fours, Shawnnico Sargeant contributed 32 and Kenniko Darlington was unbeaten on 51.
Darlington was dismissed for 53 runs on Thursday, and Lodge were bowled out for 271 runs. Pacer Jershaun Joseph captured three wickets for 47 runs, and Shiv Shadeo dismissed three batsmen with his leg-spin.
Harrison College at 199 for seven wickets in their second innings, Batson top-scored with 118, his century was compiled off 77 balls and included seven fours and eight sixes. Batson faced 89 balls throughout his innings and counted seven fours and nine sixes.
Sargeant captured six wickets for 105 runs to finish with the match figures of ten wickets for 143 runs.
Chasing 123 to win in the final session off 21 overs, Lodge were 113 runs for five when the match ended. Shakobi Gittens kept the chase alive with a stroke fill 47 runs before he was caught at the wicket off Shadeo, at that stage the score was 100 for four wickets.
Two balls later Shadeo removed Zion Toppin for duck, and the Harrison College fans in the lower level of the 3 W’s Stand began to chant “let’s go Koij”, but Sealy 16 not out guided Lodge to safety. Shadeo took three wickets for 24 runs.
Speaking at the closing ceremony at the end of the match, newly elected president of the BCA Calvin Hope said he is going to suggest to members of the BCA’s board that the final be played over four days instead of three.
Meanwhile, Senator Gregory Nicholls has been appointed vice-president of the BCA, the appointment was made during the new Board of Directors first meeting earlier this week.
The post of vice-president was made vacant after Hope was elected president of the BCA of August 12. As a result of Nicholls’ elevation to the vice-presidency, the position of general secretary has become vacant, and Jo-Ann Haynes was appointed to the post.
