MIST To Hosted ‘Girls In ICT Day 2026’

The Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Science and Technology hosted its annual celebration of Girls in ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Day, yesterday, Thursday, April 23, at the 3Ws Stand, Kensington Oval, St. Michael.

This global initiative, recognised by the International Telecommunication Union, highlights the importance of empowering young women to explore opportunities in the digital world.

The 2026 theme, AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future, emphasises the transformative role of artificial intelligence in building inclusive and innovative societies. 

Over 200 female secondary school students participated in the interactive sessions, featuring cutting-edge technologies such as robotics, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. 

The event also provided a valuable networking platform, connecting students with accomplished women in Barbados who have established successful careers in ICT.
