Stuart Maloney and co-driver Kristan Yearwood are the winners of the 2026 BCIC Rally Barbados which ended on Sunday. The victory was Maloney’s second as a driver, and third overall. He won his first Rally Barbados in 2007 as a co-driver alongside the late local rallying legend Paul “Surfer” Bourne”.
In 2024 Maloney created history when driving a Skoda Fabia RS with Yearwood as his co-driver, he became the first competitor to win Rally Barbados as a driver and co-driver.
On Sunday, Maloney won the Rally driving a Skoda Fabia RS with Yearwood as his co-driver equaling Bourne’s record of three victories in the premier Caribbean motorsport tarmac event. Maloney started the final day with a 15-seconds advantage over Kyle Gregg of Jamaica, who was partnered by Kriegg Yearwood.
In an effort to overturn the deficit, the Jamaican driving a Ford Fiesta Rally kept up relentless pressure on Maloney in the remaining stages of the Rally, but Maloney remained calm and produced a superb drive to protect his lead and win the Rally. Gregg and Yearwood had to settle for second place. Mark Maloney ( Stuart’s brother)and his co-driver Justin Maloney were third.
Maloney said the victory was more exciting than in 2024: “After my accident last year I had a lot of questions in my mind; and I wondered if I would ever be able to participate in a rally again- so winning this rally was a great redemption victory for me”.
The 36 th edition of the event which began on Friday is a tarmac rally with 20 special stages run on the island’s intricate network of public roads.
According to sports manager of the Barbados Tourism Marketing INC, Kamal Springer, Rally Barbados plays an important role in the island’s tourism industry during the off-peak season.
“Our primary goals in sports tourism are to help fill off-peak tourism periods; and BCIC Rally helps us boost visitation at the start of this period. The domestic impact of the event is incredible and creates the kind of atmosphere that we can promote globally for international motor sports fans to get excited about it. Visitors love interacting with our people and this event provides one of the best opportunities to do so”, Springer said.
