Reminder To Submit List Of Marriage Officers By Tomorrow January 15
The Registration Department is reminding the public that in accordance with Section 11(2) of the Marriage Act, Cap. 218A of the Laws of Barbados, the Registrar of the Supreme Court is required to publish annually, in the month of January, the official list of persons appointed as Marriage Officers in Barbados.
To facilitate compliance with this statutory requirement, all denominations and registered national religious institutions are required to submit an up-to-date list of their appointed Marriage Officers to the Registrar of the Supreme Court.
All lists should be submitted by tomorrow, Thursday, January 15, 2026, via email to: angela.king@barbados.gov.bb.
Each submission should include the following details for every Marriage Officer:
- Full name, clerical title or office, date of appointment, postal address, parish, church, or pastoral charge served and current status.
Religious institutions are further reminded that the Marriage Act places a continuing obligation on the Head, Superintendent or Supervisor of a religious body to notify the Registrar of any changes relating to the appointment, resignation, cessation, or change of address of a Marriage Officer.(PR/GIS)
