The Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Science and Technology (MIST), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Transformation, will once again host its annual Science and Technology Festival. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Queen’s Park, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This festival continues to highlight the critical role that Science and Technology (S&T) play in Barbados’ national development. As the country deepens its understanding of innovation as a driver of future economic competitiveness and societal progress, the festival provides an important platform for engagement across all sectors.
The event offers a multifaceted experience. It showcases research conducted by scientists from various institutions and highlights their collaborative efforts. It also features new and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and a dedicated renewable and alternative energy section. This area will spotlight solar technologies and other sustainable energy solutions, giving students and the public hands‑on opportunities to explore how renewable energy works and how it supports Barbados’ long‑term sustainability goals.
In addition, students will have the opportunity to compose music, create film, and measure biometrics for enhanced sporting performance, all through AI interactive experiences that allow young people to engage directly with powerful modern technologies.
Students at all levels will gather under one roof to learn, explore, and experience S&T together. In a world where creative ideas are among our most valuable assets, the Science and Technology Festival provides a unique environment that can transform how our youth view and engage with science and technology in their daily lives.
The event aims to bring together all sectors of society in a forum that encourages dialogue among professionals, researchers, industry stakeholders, and the wider community. It serves as both a scientific showcase and an educational platform for Barbadian youth.
The Science and Technology Festival was born out of the need to provide a consistent platform for scientists to share their research findings, mentor and inspire young people, and introduce new technologies to the public, ensuring that every citizen has the opportunity to become informed, engaged, and empowered.
