“Share The Care” Campaign Launches This Weekend

The Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs through the Bureau of Gender Affairs will, this weekend, launch its “Share the Care” Campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting greater gender parity in care giving and domestic responsibilities within Barbadian households through various public engagement activities.

The launch ceremony for the campaign will be held on the grounds of the Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, on Saturday, June 21, at 4:00 p.m.

According to Director of the Bureau of Gender Affairs, William Warner, the campaign has gained renewed relevance and urgency with the anticipated enactment of the Paternity Leave Act.

“As this progressive legislation paves the way for increased male involvement in early child-rearing, we believe it is a pivotal moment to mark the importance of shared responsibilities and engage stakeholders in meaningful dialogue around evolving gender roles and shared unpaid domestic duties,” he stated.
