Christ Church Boasts Highest Number Of Pride Of Barbados Awardees

A total of forty-three persons from across the parish of Christ Church were honoured on Wednesday as part of the 2025 We Gatherin’ celebrations.

Twenty-two individuals were acknowledged as honourees during a ceremony at State House, where 15 received their Pride of Barbados insignia from the President of Barbados, Her Excellency, The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason.

The awardees were recognised for their outstanding contributions in areas such as youth development and empowerment, community development, and volunteerism – particularly through programmes supporting the less fortunate, the elderly, and vulnerable families within their communities.

Recipients of the Pride of Barbados insignia were Stetson Babb, Patrick Bourne, Peter Chase, Dale Clarke, Sharon Codrington, Wycliffe Codrington, Michael Coward, Denton Crichlow, Liesel Daisley-Daniel, Myrina Forde, Janice Forde-Estwick, Glen Gibbons, Dwane Goddard, Dwayne Grazette and Pansy Griffith.

 Liesel Daisley-Daniel, who was recognised for her exceptional contributions to women’s empowerment and the advancement of domestic violence awareness, expressed her gratitude.

She stated: “When you give, you don’t do so with the intention to receive. In humanity, there are three key components…service, service, service. No one is an island, and I certainly am not. I didn’t do it on my own. So, I have adopted a quote, which is, I am because we are.”

Beloved postal worker, Michael Coward, was honoured for his community spirit and commitment to using his networks and resources to organise initiatives that benefit children and those in need. 

“I help the [children] in the community by buying snacks, books, pencils, and crayons and make sure everyone is good. It’s nice that someone acknowledged that I am doing something, but I didn’t do it for glory; I do it to help…the young children…. All I want to do is help…the children.” (PR/GIS)
