National Honours List – 2025

 Her Excellency The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Prunella Mason, Freedom of Barbados, Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Dame of  St. Andrew, Senior Counsel, Doctor of Laws, President of Barbados, has consented to the announcement of National Honours 2025 on the occasion of the conferment on the holders of the office of Chief Justice, Chief of Staff, Barbados Defence Force and Commissioner of Police, Barbados  Police Service in accordance with Section 4 (1) of the Barbados National Honours and Decorations Act 2021, (Act 2021-23), establishing the Order of Barbados.

Awards of National Honours 2025                                    

Order of Freedom of Barbados  

A person who was born in Barbados; is a citizen of Barbados; or is entitled to be registered as a citizen of Barbados and who has distinguished himself by extraordinary service to Barbados, the Caribbean, the Caribbean Diaspora or to humanity at large  

 Mr. Justice Leslie Francis Haynes, S.C.

For significant contributions to legal framework and social stability of the nation by upholding the rule of law, maintaining the integrity of the legal system, protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring that the Constitution is interpreted and applied impartially, safeguarding the country’s judicial independence and overseeing the administration of justice to ensure fair and equitable access.  

Order of the Republic  

A person who was born in Barbados; is a citizen of Barbados; or is entitled to be registered as a citizen of Barbados for distinguished national achievement and merit.  

  1. Mr. Richard Alphonzo Boyce  

For exemplary leadership, dedication, and commitment to public service in maintaining peace and public safety, fostering trust within communities, leading the police service to prevent and respond to crimes, ensuring safe environments for all citizens and contributing to the social fabric of the country by upholding law and order.  

  • Brigadier Carlos Andréz Ronaldo Lovell, J.P.    

For demonstrated leadership, discipline, service and dedication to national security ensuring the protection of the nation’s sovereignty, integrity, and security, commanding the military forces and overseeing strategic defence planning, crisis response, and disaster relief efforts.    (PR/GIS)
