ODWIN CONTINUES TO PERFORM

Barbadian golfer Emily Odwin tied for tenth place alongside notable competitors Filipino Bianca Padanganan, and Americans Kaleiya Romero and Erica Moon; at the inaugural Smoky Mountain Championship on the Epson Tour which took place at Green Meadow Country Club, Blount County, Tennessee over the weekend.

Odwin, 22, put together a strong performance over the multi-round event , completing play at -9 under par. She shot a spectacular 6-under par 66 in the final round to secure a $5,034 payout multiplying her overall season earnings. Having turned professional two months ago after graduating from Southern Methodist University (SMU), Odwin joined the Epson Tour, the official qualifying pathway to the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournaments; this top 10 finish marks a significant early milestone in her rookie season.

Before turning professional, Odwin cracked the top 100 of World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), reaching a peak of 63 rd. While transitioning to the pro ranks can be extremely difficult, Odwin has shown she can compete at the professional level. After missing her first few professional cuts, she broke through last month at the Hartford HealthCare Women Championship. Over 140 golfers took part in the Championship which was won by Mirabel Ting of Malaysia. Odwin’s next tournament is the Wildhorse Classic, which takes place from August 21-23 at the Wildhorse Golf Course in Pendleton, Oregon.
