Protective Services Open Day This Saturday, January 17
The Barbados Fire Service, in collaboration with other government agencies, will host its annual Protective Services Open Day this Saturday, January 17, at the Cadogan, Mayers, Marshall Emergency Services Complex, Pine Plantation Road, St. Michael.
The event will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., under the theme “Heroes at Work, Communities at Play”, and the public is encouraged to attend.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Henderson Patrick, said the aim of the Open Day is to strengthen community engagement by providing residents with interactive and informative experiences that would increase public awareness of the roles, capabilities, and services of the protective services.
It also aims to promote safety, trust, and partnership between responders and the community, as well as provide an opportunity to highlight cooperation and coordination among agencies within the protective services.
Key stakeholders participating in the Open Day include The Barbados Police Service, the Barbados Defence Force, The Barbados Prison Service, the National Council on Substance Abuse, and the Emergency Ambulance Service.
There will be educational displays, demonstrations, and truck tours, as well as a Kids’ Zone and food court. Music and entertainment will also be provided. In addition, the agencies of the protective services will conduct a recruitment drive as part of the day’s activities. (PR/GIS)
