DLP UNVEILS MANIFESTO LAUNCHED IN FINAL DAY PUSH AHEAD OF THE ELECTIONS ON FEBRUARY 11

Last night in Gall Hill, St. John, the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) formally launched its manifesto ahead of the February 11 general election, marking a key moment in the opposition party’s campaign. The event drew supporters and party members as leader Ralph Thorne outlined the DLP’s vision for governance and its priorities if elected to office. 

Thorne used the occasion to emphasise the party’s focus on accountability, social justice, and structural reforms, including a pledge to introduce a new republican constitution as one of its top priorities. He framed the manifesto as a “contract with the people” grounded in practical solutions rather than lofty promises. 

The launch was not without drama. Earlier in the evening, DLP candidate Damien Fanus was involved in a vehicle accident en route to the event but escaped serious injury and went on to receive medical attention. Thorne updated attendees that Fanus and the driver were well. 

Political analysts have debated the party’s late timing, noting that releasing its manifesto just days before the vote leaves little time for voters to digest its contents — a decision described as both a strategic move and a potential risk.
