CIBC Caribbean VISA Winner off to FIFA
Two Barbadians will be among the thousands cheering at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta come the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinals.
Nikita Hazelwood-Layne is excited to have won the coveted CIBC Caribbean/VISA prize that will take her to the renowned Atlanta Stadium for the semi-finals of this year’s much anticipated FIFA World Cup. She will be accompanied by her husband, who is an avid football fan and may be even more excited than her.
The competition was open to all CIBC Caribbean customers with a VISA credit card, who made three purchases of US $150 or more between March 16th and April 30th, 2026.
Nikita reported seeing the ad pop up when she went to do an online transaction and thinking ‘that is interesting but what are the chances!’ However, she went ahead, clicked on it and proceeded with her transaction and forgot about it. So much so she said, that when someone called from the bank to tell her of her good luck, she was wary that it might be a scam. It was only after getting a confirmation email as well, that she thought ‘maybe this is serious’ and really started to pay more attention.
After being invited to the bank to collect her prize, the Compensation Officer at Sagicor Life told no one but her husband and her boss, as she wanted to be sure that she would be able to get the time off to take advantage of her winnings.
Senior Manager Cards, Bianca Duguid-Smith, in making the presentation congratulated Nikita and stated that the bank along with credit and debit card partner VISA mounted the competition to give back to clients and to ensure that they enjoy the amenities which the card offered to them.
In accepting the prize, Nikita stated “I am very grateful for the opportunity and thankful to CIBC Caribbean for this.”
The prize, of which all football lovers would be envious, includes airfare for two (2) people from Barbados to Atlanta, five (5) nights, four (4) days accommodation at a four (4) star hotel in Atlanta, two (2) Category one (1) tickets to the World Cup Semi-finals at the Mercedes Benz Stadium there, a US $600 preloaded VISA card (spending money), Airport transfers, daily breakfast and snacks at hotel, transportation to and from scheduled events, gifts and the chance to view some cultural activities while in Atlanta.
Nikita and her husband will be accompanied by similar winners from Jamaica and the Bahamas who will all have a dedicated VISA Chaperone and Guide on this once-in-a-lifetime trip. (PR)
