Last week, GovTech Barbados launched a series of Co-Design Workshops in collaboration with a number of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), aimed at quickly developing digital services that directly address public needs.
This initiative represents a key step in the organisation’s ongoing efforts to transform public service delivery through the strategic use of digital technology and will run from May 4 to May 15.
The workshops will be conducted in collaboration with various MDAs, bringing together multidisciplinary teams of developers, designers, and subject matter experts from around the world.
The objective is to design and test solutions that address high-priority challenges which citizens identified through user research, surveys, data collection and data analysis.
Format of Workshops
This “co-design” approach ensures that services are grounded in real user needs. At the core of this initiative will be very intensive, structured, two-day workshops that focus on collaboration and practical problem-solving to ensure government services are fit for purpose.
Each session will guide participants through a series of activities, including mapping citizens’ journeys for essential services, conducting field research with users and frontline staff, developing rapid prototypes, and testing solutions with real users. This makes sure that services are grounded in real-world needs and tested before they are developed further.
“Designing with the public in mind is critical to building services that are intuitive, accessible, and effective,” said Mark Boyce, CEO, GovTech Barbados, “By working closely with MDAs and engaging users throughout the process, we are ensuring that the solutions we develop are both relevant and impactful.”
These workshops underscore GovTech’s commitment to improving the accessibility, efficiency, and responsiveness of government services. (PR/GIS)
