Inaugural Address by President Lt. Col. The Most Hon. Jeffrey Bostic

The Hand Of Service, The Heart Of Guidance: From Chapman Lane To State House – The Journey

As we gather on this first Sunday of Advent, when our flag once again catches the first light of our Republic’s dawn, we mark not only the beginning of a new liturgical year, but also the dawn of the second chapter in our presidential history. The timing of this installation ceremony is a poignant reminder that our democracy is not static, but dynamic – a journey of hope and transformation. Just as the Advent season invites us to prepare our hearts for the coming of the light, so too do we prepare ourselves for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. May the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love that guide us through this season also guide me as I continue in service to my beloved country.

A Moment Of Gratitude
Let me begin by offering my heartfelt thanks to my predecessor, The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason, for her outstanding service as our nation’s last Governor General and its first President. President Dame Sandra Mason has completed her leg of this relay, and in such a glorious way, that she has passed the baton to me already in a commanding position that allows me to build on this lead. Madam President, your legacy will guide and continue to inspire me as I build on the firm foundation which you laid.
On behalf of the government and people of Barbados, I extend our sincere gratitude to you and wish you well in your future. We know that your enduring loyalty to the Republic will continue to be expressed through service of the highest order. (PR/GIS)
