Register for RBC’s Race for the Kids 2024

Lace up your running shoes as registration is now open for the 8th edition of RBC’s Race for The Kids in Barbados. The 5K race set for Sunday, April 14th, supports youth and children’s causes in the countries where the Bank holds the Race.

The University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus has been RBC’s charity partner for the event in Barbados since it began hosting the Race locally in 2017. “We are inviting everyone to embark on a journey of fitness and philanthropy as every stride contributes to enriching the lives of students at The UWI,” said Shimon McIntosh, Managing Director, RBC Barbados. “Your participation translates into scholarships and resources for those who aspire to excel academically and pave a brighter future,” he added.

Last year, more than 1,500 people participated in the race which raised BBD 120,000. The funds have been used to support scholarships and the university’s First Year Experience (FYE) program. Some of the funds from this year’s race will be used to support the acquisition of an AI solution App that supports the mental health and wellbeing of students.

Professor R. Clive Landis, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal, The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, described the event as “much anticipated”, and even very competitive for The UWI fraternity. He is hopeful that even more students will register for this year’s race. The family-friendly event will begin and end at The UWI’s Cave Hill Campus. Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to run, walk or skate in support of education and wellness.
