Students roll out warm welcome for President at Graydon Sealy Secondary

Students of Graydon Sealy Secondary School turned out in their numbers yesterday morning to welcome the His Excellency Lt. Col. The Most Honourable Jeffrey Davidson Bostic, President of Barbados, as the institution continues activities marking its 50th anniversary this year

The school’s lobby and staircases were lined with students who applauded as the President arrived, setting the tone for a morning of celebration and reflection. 

Steel pan music, drumming and choreographed dance performance of the Barbados landship highlighted the creative talents within the school, while a heartfelt gospel selection by students drew a standing ovation from the President.

Addressing the gathering, the school’s principal Mrs. June Shyrelle Howard-Gittens spoke to the values the institution has upheld over the past five decades, pointing to discipline, service and academic growth as hallmarks of the Graydon Sealy experience.

The President later moved through the school inspecting uniformed groups, sports teams and prefects, praising their discipline and overall presentation.

In remarks to the students, he commended the school for its contribution to national development and encouraged students to remain focused on their goals. He reminded them that everyone has a role to play, urging them to resist negativity and to show respect to parents and teachers.

The President also shared plans to expand his outreach to schools across the island and to introduce a mentorship programme aimed at supporting young people.
