WILDEY RETAINS TITLE IN ONE SUPER CUP CHAMPIONSHIP

Defending champions Wildey defeated Super50 Superb Blend Gladiola by 51 runs to retain their title in the BCA Elite/Division One Super Cup Championship at Kensington Oval on Sunday evening. 

Wildey scored 227 for nine wickets after winning the toss and opting to bat; they were tottering at 57 for three wickets before Carlos Maynard (42) and Demetruis Richards added 70 for the fourth wicket. 

 After the dismissals of Maynard and Richards, Wildey collapsed to 130 for seven wickets in the 31st over; before Player of The Match Deswin Currency repaired the damage with 56 unbeaten runs. 

Currency struck four attractive fours and one massive six, he added 52 runs for the eighth wicket with Jaden Leacock (29) and shared a critical 10th wicket partnership of 47 with Tariq O’Neal who made nine not out. Jaden Leacock scored 29 and Nimar Bolden got 18.

Former West Indies fast bowler Miquel Cummins captured four wickets for 47 runs, and Ashley Nurse who played white- ball cricket for the West Indies picked up three wickets for 36 runs. 

/Chasing 228 runs to win the match Gladiola were dismissed for 176 in 37.2 overs, Nurse made 44, and Carlon Bowen –Tuckett scored 42 elegant runs, and Zidan Harewood and Giovonte Depeiza contributed 30 and 27 runs respectively. 

O’Neal who spun a web around the batsmen with his off spin took five wickets for 29 runs, while left-arm spinner Currency picked up two wickets for 31 runs, and leg spinner Zishan Motara chipped in with two wickets.
