Inaugural International Women’s Day Seminar Held

Close to 100 women are expected to participate in the Learning and Development Unit’s (LDU) inaugural International Women’s Day Seminar for Female Public Officers this Friday, March 13.

From First Job to Future Self: Empowering Women Across Every Life and Career Stage”is the theme of the seminar, which will bring together female public officers for meaningful reflection, dialogue, and empowerment.

It will feature distinguished female national leaders, who will share insights on breaking barriers, leading with confidence, and navigating the realities of leadership in public life. Sessions will also explore women’s health and wellbeing across the life cycle, including the workplace, and the impact of hormonal changes from reproduction through menopause.

Madam Justice Barbara Cooke-Alleyne will deliver the keynote address, while Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sonia Boyce, will make a presentation. There will also be an engaging panel discussion with accomplished women representing different career stages and perspectives.

Director of the LDU, Fay-Marie Browne, underscored the importance of the one-day forum, describing it as timely and necessary.

“This inaugural seminar reflects the LDU’s ongoing role in strengthening the leadership and professional capability of public officers, while advancing a culture that recognises the importance of wellbeing, supportive networks, and high-performance leadership across the public service.

“Delegates will be encouraged to reflect on their leadership journeys, strengthen professional networks, and deepen their commitment to service excellence,” Mrs. Browne said. (PR/GIS)
