ST PHILIP SOUTH & ST PHILIP WEST TAKE CENTRE STAGE TODAY

Candidate bios continue today for the Barbados Labour Party, the Democratic Labour Party and Friends of Democracy.

ST PHILIP SOUTH

Indar Weir serves Barbados as Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security and was elected Member of Parliament for St. Philip South in 2018 and 2022. He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Cave Hill School of Business, alongside professional certifications in organisational development and training. He has also served at the highest levels of regional and international aviation governance, including on the Joint Executive Committee of the International Air Transport Association and as a Regional Director on the Board of the United Federation of Travel Agents’ Associations.

Neil Marshall is an attorney-at-law and educator.He was educated at the Coleridge and Parry School , The University of the West Indies, University of Manchester and the Hugh Wooding Law School. He has served as a Justice of the Peace and on statutory boards include National Insurance Scheme and the Urban Development Commission.

Omar Smith is a strong advocate for food security and sustainable agriculture. A former life insurance agent and organic farming practitioner, his work focuses on affordability, dignity for farmers, and preventative, people-centred governance.

ST PHILIP WEST

Kay McConney A national gold and silver medal winning hurdler, she later served Barbados on the international stage as a diplomat and negotiator at the United Nations and the World she served as a Senator for three and a half years, before being elected Member of Parliament for St Philip West in January 2022. In Cabinet, Kay McConney has led three ministries, Minister of Education, Minister of Innovation, Science and Smart Technology,Trade Organisation and recently Minister of Economic Affairs and Investment.

Dr David Estwick is a medical Doctor and experienced public servant. Elected to Parliament in 2003 he held senior Cabinet responsibilities including Minister of Economic Affairs, Minister of Agriculture Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management.

Karina Goodridge is President of Friends of Democracy and a practicing Attorney-at-Law. She is the owner of East Wind Legal with experience across civil law, litigation, estates, banking, and insurance. She is a frequent media commentator on youth development and national issues.
